2005 Buick LaCrosse Coolant Pipe Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the Coolant Pipe for the throttle body heater (LY7) on 2005 Buick LaCrosse?
A: Partial draining of the cooling system is required to replace the Throttle Body heater hose/pipe (LY7). Begin by removing power steering fluid reservoir wiring hardware as well as brake booster hose connections. The mounting bolts (1, 3) of the remote power steering fluid reservoir need to be removed before setting it aside. You must remove the Wiper Motor module to reach the Throttle Body heater inlet hose from its rear position. Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor connector from the Throttle Body heater inlet hose/pipe by using 90 degrees needle nose pliers to remove the hose from its position on the water crossover. Separated from its electrical connection point, the coil pack now continues to the disconnection of the camshaft position (CMP) sensor connector and left knock sensor connector along with the vacuum pipe retainer from in front of the Throttle Body heater inlet hose/pipe. First remove the vacuum brake booster hose from its vacuum source then disconnect the bolts which fasten the Throttle Body heater inlet hose/pipe to both the intake plenum and engine rear lift bracket. Remove the Throttle Body heater inlet hose by disconnecting it from the Throttle Body then take out the hose/pipe from its position on the engine. Position the Throttle Body heater inlet hose/pipe against the engine before securing it to the Throttle Body. Install the bolts which join the hose/pipe to the intake plenum and the engine rear lift bracket and torque them to 9 nm (80 inch lbs.). Complete the following reconnects: connect the vacuum brake booster hose to its vacuum source and join the cmp sensor connector to its connector and position the vacuum pipe retainer in front of the Throttle Body heater inlet hose/pipe. Connect the electrical connector to the coil pack using 90 degrees needle nose pliers while installing the Throttle Body heater inlet hose to the water crossover. Move the heated oxygen sensor connector to the Throttle Body heater inlet hose/pipe rear end and refit the Wiper Motor module before installing the remote power steering fluid reservoir using bolts at positions 1 and 3. Tighten the intake plenum bolts to 9 nm (80 inch lbs.) together with the cylinder head mounting bolt to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). Span the brake booster hose along with the wiring harness to the remote power steering fluid reservoir before you finish filling the cooling system.
