• Q: How to replace the underhood fuse box on 2005 Buick LaCrosse?

  A: A first step to replace the underhood electrical center or junction block includes disconnecting the negative Battery Cable and removing the remote positive Battery Cable stud cover. Clear away the junction block by revolving the nut holding the positive Battery Cable while removing it from its position at the underhood accessory wiring junction block. Afterward, position the cable lead away from the junction block. Before moving on with replacement, remove the retainer of coolant recovery tank hose from the junction block followed by releasing the tabs retaining the junction block to its retainer for repositioning the block. The team disconnects instrument panel (I/P) wiring harness individual connectors after loosening engine i/p and forward lamp wiring harness connectors' retaining bolts and disconnecting the Engine Wiring Harness Connector as well as the i/p wiring harness connector and forward lamp wiring harness connector from the junction block. The accessory wiring junction block retainer can be removed by following the procedure of releasing positive Battery Cable retainers and removing the junction block retainer strut tower nut before lifting the retainer to free the lower tab. After final positioning of the junction block retainer onto the strut tower follow by inserting the lower tab into slot and installing the junction block retainer to strut tower nut by tightening it to 3 n.m (27 lb in). Insert the positive Battery Cable lead end through the slot in the junction block retainer then apply cable retainers to ensure its stability. The junction block becomes ready for use after properly connecting the forward lamp wiring harness connector with i/p wiring harness connector and Engine Wiring Harness Connector. Tighten the wiring harness connectors to underhood accessory wiring junction block retaining bolts to 7 n.m (62 lb in). Secure the junction block by pressing it into position after you align all 4 retaining tabs of the i/p wiring harness individual connectors. After securing the coolant recovery tank hose retainer, attach the positive Battery Cable lead to the underhood accessory wiring junction block stud and fasten the retaining nut to 10 n.m (89 lb in). To complete the process fasten the remote positive Battery Cable stud cover before reestablishing the negative Battery Cable connection.
