2006 Buick LaCrosse Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the underhood fuse box on 2006 Buick LaCrosse?
A: The first task when replacing an underhood electrical center or junction block includes disconnecting the negative Battery Cable followed by the release of the remote positive Battery Cable stud cover. Disconnect the nut which holds the positive Battery Cable lead to the underhood accessory wiring junction block before moving the cable away. The coolant recovery tank hose retainer should be released from the junction block before releasing the four junction block retaining tabs that secure it to the junction block retainer. Final steps include relocating the junction block. Remove all individual connectors from the instrument panel wiring harness followed by loosening bolts which fix the engine and i/p and forward lamp wiring harness connectors before detaching the Engine Wiring Harness Connector along with i/p wiring harness connector and forward lamp wiring harness connector from the junction block. The accessory wiring junction block retainer requires removal when necessary through a process that starts by releasing the positive Battery Cable lead retainers followed by unscrewing the nut securing the junction block retainer to the strut tower which enables raising the retainer to release its lower tab. The junction block retainer should be placed on the strut tower then you should insert the lower tab into the slot before installing the nut and torquing it to 3 n.m (27 lb in). Fasten the positive Battery Cable lead through the slot of the junction block retainer. Secure the junction block wiring harness components by tightening forward lamp wiring harness connector and i/p wiring harness connector and Engine Wiring Harness Connector with 7 n.m (62 lb in) torque. You must first link all i/p wiring harness individual connectors before you can align their 4 retaining tabs to press the junction block in place. The next procedure requires securing the coolant recovery tank hose retainer followed by lead installation of the positive Battery Cable to the junction block and proper torqueing of the retaining nut to 10 n.m (89 lb in). The technician then completes the procedure by installing the remote positive Battery Cable stud cover before reconnecting the negative Battery Cable.
