• Q: How to replace the Body Control Module (BCM) on 2005 Buick LaCrosse?

  A: You must remove the left side instrument panel trim cover before replacing the Body Control Module (BCM). Use metal ground points to release static energy before working on the system. Never let tools touch the exposed terminals. Keep protective shields in place until final installation steps. Do only connect ground terminals and jumper wires when a technical procedure specifically requires them. After achieving ESD safety you can unlock the cam lock and detatch the upper power connector from the BCM. Take away the I/P insulator on the left side and the knee bolster. Liberalize the cam lock button once more and detach the lower BCM power connections from their terminals. Undo the BCM bracket screws and remove the BCM assembly with its bracket from the I/P unit. Then separate the BCM from the bracket. Install the BCM on the BCM bracket first and then return the BCM-bracket assembly to its location in the I/P securing it with screws tightened to 2 N.m (18 lb in). Fit the lower BCM electrical connectors into their places and snap down the cam lock. Replace the knee bolster and left I/P insulator afterward. Secure the BCM power connection and deploy the cam lock system before fitting the left inner dashboard panel to its place. Setting up the new BCM system should start after completion of the installation process.
