2005 Buick LeSabre Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the timing chain and sprockets on 2005 Buick LeSabre?
A: Begin engine Timing Chain replacement procedure by taking out the front engine cover. Adjust the timing sprocket marks to their tightest position before taking off the Timing Chain dampener and camshaft bolt and sprocket and chain. Clean both the Timing Chain and sprockets before examination. First, position the Crankshaft to align the number one Piston at top dead center while the camshaft timing mark faces straight down before installation of the sprocket. Place the Timing Chain onto the sprockets where the marks are nearest to each other before installing the Timing Chain, crankshaft sprocket, and finally the camshaft sprocket. Tighten the camshaft sprocket bolt to 100 nm (74 ft. Lbs.) with the torque angle meter (J 45059) to achieve a total bolt torque of 100 nm along with an additional 90-degree turn. After setting the Timing Chain dampener in place install the Timing Chain dampener bolt until it reaches 22 nm (16 ft. Lbs.) torque while finishing with the engine front cover installation.
