2005 Buick Park Avenue A/C Hose Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Hose Assembly on 2005 Buick Park Avenue?
A: The first step before replacing the compressor hose assembly is to recover all refrigerant contents. The evaporator hose must be taken off the accumulator cover while removing the accumulator cover from the accumulator. Detach the compressor hose nut at the accumulator and proceed to remove the compressor hose itself. Unbolt the compressor hose retaining snap at the frame rail then remove the compressor hose bolt from the condenser while taking off the hose from the condenser. First disconnect the electrical connector from the a/c pressure sensor before removing the compressor hose nut to pull the hose out through the vehicle. Remove necessary washer seals from compressor hose locations at both the compressor and accumulator mounting points while also discarding the associated o-rings from the hose. The installation process starts by placing new sealing washers onto the compressor hose near both the accumulator and compressor before setting new o-rings at the condenser mounting point. Put the compressor hose back into the vehicle and fasten it to both the compressor unit and tighten the compressor hose nut to 30 n.m (22 lb ft). The compressor hose requires attachment to both the condenser and the a/c pressure switch after which you should secure them with the compressor hose bolt to a final torque value of 24 n.m (18 lb ft). If the frame rail clip showed damage during dismantling it requires replacement with a new one; after hose insertion attach the frame rail clip securely. The compressor hose installation must end by securing it with a compressor hose nut tightened to 24 n.m (18 lb ft). Place the accumulator cover on the accumulator before engaging it by pressing. Secure the evaporator hose onto the accumulator cover while pressing it into place. Operate the a/c system evacuation procedures followed by component recharge and examine the a/c fittings using the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A).
