- Q: How to replace the windshield washer reservoir on 2005 Buick Rainier?A: Begin the windshield washer solvent container replacement process by taking off the air cleaner cover followed by removing the nuts holding the washer container to the wheelhouse. The procedure starts with disconnecting Washer Pump electrical connectors then disconnecting level sensor switch electrical connector followed by removing the harness clip connectors from the level sensor switch harness. Remove the two washer hose connections (1, 4) above the Coolant Reservoir. Partially lift the washer container from the engine compartment to disassemble the rear Washer Pump electrical harness clip. The washer solvent container should be taken out from its mounting position at the engine compartment wheelhouse studs while draining the fluid into a proper container. Transfer the required parts including round grommet , washer cap , upper air box clips , level sensor switch harness clips , lower oval mounting grommet , front windshield Washer Pump , rear Washer Pump , Washer Pump hoses , rear Washer Pump harness connector , and level sensor switch. First install both new Washer Pump grommets along with a new level sensor switch grommet before removing steel spacer grommets from the wheelhouse studs. Place washer solvent container spacers into oval and round rubber grommets before securing the electrical connectors outside the wheelhouse and lowering the container into place. Connect the electrical connectors between rear and front washer pumps and also connect the level sensor electrical connector and rear pump electrical harness clip. After lowering the container onto wheelhouse studs check for proper seating then tighten the nuts to 15 n.m (11 lb ft). Attach the level sensor electrical harness to harness clips then connect the front Washer Pump hose and the rear Washer Pump hose to Washer Pump hoses (1, 4) before installing the air cleaner cover. Check the container for potential leaks after you add fresh washer solvent.
