2005 Buick Rendezvous Radiator Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the radiator (LA1) on 2005 Buick Rendezvous?
A: Recovery of refrigerant must be the first step before draining the cooling system when replacing the Radiator (LA1). Cools fans and their shroud must be detached from the system. The hose clamp pliers (J 38185) should be used to reposition the hose clamp on the water pump housing before disconnecting the Radiator outlet hose from the water pump housing. The hose clamp pliers (J 38185) enable repositioning of the Radiator Hose clamp so the vehicle can be raised before disconnecting the outlet hose from the Radiator. After detaching the lower toc line from the Radiator position the vehicle in a lowered state. The technician should disconnect and discard the sealing washer before unplugging the a/c discharge hose from its position on the condenser block by removing the retaining nut. Instantly cover and tape the open A/C Hose to stop system pollution before applying the same precautions to the a/c discharge hose. The evaporator inlet tube needs its bolt removed before disconnecting it from the condenser block and then covering the outlet with a cap or tape. To detach the condenser from the Radiator you must first remove the Radiator and condenser assembly before taking out the condenser tube clip bolt followed by the condenser mounting bolts. During installation position the condenser onto the Radiator while fastening the mounting bolts at 6 nm torque and the condenser tube clip bolt at 2.5 nm torque. Secure the evaporator inlet tube and bolt to the condenser block at 16 nm (12 ft. Lbs.) following new washer installation before removing tape or cap from the same tube. After removing a/c discharge hose's cover or tape apply a fresh sealing washer then attach the hose to the condenser block by torquing it to 16 nm (12 ft. Lbs.). The procedure now requires vehicle elevation to connect the lower toc line with the Radiator while simultaneously attaching the Radiator outlet hose to its assembly. Insert the hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to reposition the clamp at the Radiator before lowering the vehicle to join the outlet hose with the water pump housing and secure it with another clamp from the hose clamp pliers (J 38185). The final step entails installing the cooling fans along with their shroud and completing the cooling system fill while a/c system evacuation and recharging before conducting the fitting leak test through use of the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A). Determine the transmission fluid level according to the necessary inspection procedures.
