Buick Rendezvous Radiator Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the radiator in an A/C system on Buick Rendezvous?
A: The Radiator replacement process starts with evacuating the refrigerant from the a/c system followed by draining the cooling system. The cooling fans must be detached from the cooling Fan Shroud for removal. The hose clamp pliers (J 38185) will help position the hose clamp at the water pump housing and allow removal of the Radiator outlet hose from its housing connection. Use hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to move the hose clamp at the Radiator before disconnecting the Radiator outlet hose from the Radiator. The procedure requires detachments of the Radiator lower transaxle oil cooler line along with removal of the a/c discharge hose nut from the condenser block, and subsequent disconnection of the a/c discharge hose while discarding the sealing washer. The service technician should first stop contaminant entry by applying tape or caps to the open A/C Hose before removing the bolt securing the evaporator inlet tube to the condenser block and disconnecting it while capping and taping the evaporator inlet tube. Pull apart the Radiator and condenser assembly by uninstalling first the condenser tube clip bolt followed by the condenser mounting bolts to remove the separating condenser from the Radiator. Install the condenser on the Radiator by mounting bolts to 6 nm (53 inch lbs.) and tightening the condenser tube clip bolt to 2.5 nm (22 inch lbs.). After assembling the Radiator and condenser you should remove tape or cap from the evaporator inlet tube before attaching it to the condenser block with bolt which should be tightened to 16 nm (12 ft. Lbs.). Begin by removing the tape or cap from your a/c discharge hose then place a new sealing washer onto the hose before connecting its end to the condenser block while tightening the nut to 16 nm (12 ft. Lbs.). The lower transaxle oil cooler line connects to the Radiator before installing the Radiator outlet hose which connects to another part of the Radiator. Use hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to reinstall the Radiator Hose clamp and attach the outlet pipe to water pump housing while tightening it with hose clamp pliers (J 38185). The procedure ends with distributing the cooling fans along with the cooling Fan Shroud and filling the cooling system and evacuating and recharging the a/c system before using the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) on fittings and checking transmission fluid levels.
