2007 Buick Rendezvous Radiator Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the radiator in an A/C system on 2007 Buick Rendezvous?
A: The Radiator replacement process begins with drain and recovery of a/c system refrigerant followed by draining the cooling system. Pull out both the fans along with the fan-shroud system. To proceed with this operation first use hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to change hose clamp location at water pump housing and disconnect Radiator outlet hose from this position. Prior to disconnecting the Radiator outlet hose from the Radiator and removing it workers must raise the vehicle and reposition the clamp at the Radiator using hose clamp pliers (J 38185). Disassemble the lower toc line from the Radiator followed by lowering the vehicle then removing the nut holding the a/c discharge hose on the condenser block before disconnecting the a/c discharge hose and discarding the sealing washer. Use tape or caps to cover opened a/c hoses right away to stop contamination. The procedure requires you to cover the a/c discharge hose with caps or tape after removing its bolt securing the evaporator inlet tube to the condenser block and disconnecting the same tube which also needs capping or taping off. Start by taking off the Radiator and condenser assembly before breaking loose the condenser tube clip bolt then finishing by removing the condenser mounting bolts to completely separate the condenser from the Radiator. Use mounting bolts to attach the condenser to the Radiator while tightening them to 6 n.m (53 lb in) and the condenser tube clip bolt to 2.5 n.m (22 lb in). Before installing the evaporator inlet tube mount the new sealing washer on it then tighten the bolt to 16 n.m (12 lb ft). After removing the cap or tape from the a/c discharge hose install a new sealing washer before attaching the a/c discharge hose with its corresponding nut to the condenser block using torque of 16 n.m (12 lb ft). Rise the vehicle once more then link the bottom toc line to the Radiator before you add the Radiator outlet hose and connect it to the Radiator. Use hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to reposition the hose clamp at the Radiator then lower the vehicle before attaching the Radiator outlet hose to the water pump housing and wrapping the hose clamp at the water pump housing with the hose clamp pliers (J 38185). Installation of cooling fans will proceed with the cooling Fan Shroud according to technical manual j 39400-a. The system must then be filled with fluid before evacuation and a/c system recharging takes place. Lastly, a leak test will be conducted using halogen leak detector j 39400-a on component fittings before checking the transmission fluid level.
