2005 Buick Terraza Evaporator Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the evaporator core on 2005 Buick Terraza?
A: The Evaporator core replacement process starts with hvac module disassembly and subsequent step-by-step removal of heater outlet duct screws and duct piece. First locate the Heater Core screws on the cover before removing them both. Then extract the Heater Core pipe screw followed by removal of the Heater Core. Given the next task requires disconnecting the hvac module to dash panel sound barrier seal at the same time as the lower hvac module screws to allow separation of the upper and lower hvac module halves. To access the txv you need to remove the Evaporator core together with its Evaporator temperature sensor and thermal expansion valve (TXV) screws while discarding the sealing washers during removal. First apply the exact amount of pag oil to the new Evaporator core before installing new sealing washers on the Evaporator line followed by securing the txv to the core using screws tightened to 3.2 n.m (28 lb in). To proceed, install the Evaporator temperature sensor after the Evaporator core while you align the upper case to the lower case; fix the lower hvac module screws using 1.2 n.m (11 lb in) torque. Reinstall the hvac module to dash panel sound barrier seal and the Heater Core and Heater Core pipe which requires tightening to 1.2 n.m (11 lb in). After the Heater Core cover installation use 1.2 n.m torque on its screws followed by heater outlet duct screw installation with 1.2 n.m torque before finalizing with hvac module assembly restoration.
