• Q: How to replace the upper intake manifold on 2005 Cadillac CTS?

  A: Begin upper Intake Manifold replacement by disconnecting power and removing the fuel injector sight shield followed by the air inlet duct and braking booster vacuum hose from the Intake Manifold. Remove the wiring harness retainer while disconnecting the Throttle Body electrical connector and extracting the purge line with its electrical connector from the purge solenoid valve. The process begins by unbolting the upper intake bracket bolts (1 and 2) and removing the bracket then disconnecting three critical components: the pcv hose from the right bank camshaft cover and the barometric pressure sensor electrical connector and the Intake Manifold runner control solenoid electrical connector. Extract the injector harness bracket bolt and left bank ignition coil wiring harness from their bracket before removing all upper Intake Manifold bolts while possibly needing cowl panel deflection for the right rear bolt's removal. The process requires upper Intake Manifold removal with Throttle Body in place. Cleaning and replacement of the Intake Manifold should be performed before installation. Install the wiring harness retainer afterward you should reconnect the purge line to the purge solenoid valve as well as its electrical connector and reconnect the Brake Booster Vacuum Hose to the Intake Manifold before installing the air inlet duct and the fuel injector sight shield.
