  A: To replace the parking brake cable, you need to first confirm the park brake is fully released, then raise and support the vehicle. Pull the end of the intermediate park brake cable down near the connector of the park brake and disconnect. The use of the Parking Brake Cable Release Tool (J 37043) to depress the locking retainer of the intermediate park brake cable housing and remove the cable from the floor pan bracket. Next, eliminate the park brake cable guide nut from the mounting stud, the park brake cable guide bolt from the floorpan, and the park cable guides . Remove the intermediate cable from the rear equalizer and the right rear park brake cable connector; next, remove the intermediate cable housing from the rear cable housing retaining bracket by depressing a locking retainer. Take off the intermediate cable from the vehicle. For installation, route and install the intermediate park brake cable into the park brake cable retaining bracket making sure it is seated correctly. Attach the right rear parking brake cable connector to intermediary park brake cable and the intermediary cable to the equalizer. Mount the park cable guides and park brake cable guide bolt to the floor pan, tighten to 10 Nm (88 inch lbs), followed by the park brake cable guide nut to the mounting stud, tighten to 10 Nm (88 inch lbs). Attach the intermediate part brake cable housing to the floor pan bracket, and ensure that the housing retainer is seated correctly. Insert the intermediate park brake cable in the cable retaining bracket and arrest it to its position and connect front part of the intermediate park brake cable to the park brake cable connector . Lastly, release the vehicle and pant the brake pedal 1 to 2 times to make sure the park brake cable retainers are in place.
