• Q: How to replace the ABS Control Module on 2005 Cadillac CTS?

  A: A replacement of the ABS Control Module must start with turning OFF the ignition to safeguard equipment from harm. The surrounding area of the ABS Control Module needs proper cleaning to stop ABS components from contamination. Prior to disconnecting the ABS Control Module electrical connector from the ABS Control Module, push the retainer and turn the connector tab to an unlocked state. Start by removing and then discarding the two upper ABS Control Module to brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV) screws while raising and properly supporting the vehicle. Detach the front air deflector followed by removal and discard of the two screws which connect ABS Control Module to the BPMV. Clean the ABS Control Module/BPMV assembly surface by lowering the vehicle. The ABS Control Module requires replacement so you need to disconnect its electrical connector and remove it from the BPMV before cleaning the BPMV seal surface. Safely connect the internal pump motor connector of the new ABS Control Module to the BPMV before assembly. The installation process calls for new ABS Control Module/BPMV screws which must be used to secure the 2 upper screws before raising and supporting the vehicle. Fasten the 2 lower new ABS Control Module to BPMV screws by tightening them in sequence (1-4) up to 5 Nm (44 inch lbs.). After vehicle lowering complete the installation of the front air deflector while connecting the ABS Control Module electrical connector to the ABS Control Module device while securing the locking tab on the connector. The vehicle requires a scan tool to execute an auto bleed function after clearing all DTCs.
