2005 Cadillac CTS Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the vacuum brake booster (LHD) on 2005 Cadillac CTS?
A: When replacing the vacuum Brake Booster you need to have the Brake Booster holder part j 22805-b. Start by taking off the left closeout panel and then unclipping the vacuum Brake Booster push rod as well as its rod from the brake pedal. Disconnect cross vehicle support only when needed to take away the Clutch Master Cylinder without separating clutch components. Keep the master cylinder attached to the Brake Booster while you put it to one side. First disconnect the surge tank inlet hose then move the coolant surge tank to an accessible place while reconnecting the hose to avoid fluid loss. Secure the Brake Booster holder (J 22805-B) to the vacuum Brake Booster using the master cylinder mounting nuts by disconnecting the vacuum Brake Booster check valve. Use a flat-blade tool to press the locking tab downwards as you turn the vacuum Brake Booster counterclockwise with a ratchet attached to the Brake Booster holder (J 22805-B). After taking the Brake Booster out set it up then push through the foam filter to reach the retaining clip's lever and lift the lever to extract the Pushrod . Maintain intact inner parts when you set up the vacuum Brake Booster and check the locking flange for damage. Secure the vacuum Brake Booster on the Pushrod until the attaching clip fits into its correct position. Put the booster over the cowl in counterclockwise motion but set it fully in place using a ratchet installed on Brake Booster holder (J 22805-B). Reposition the Brake Booster holder (J 22805-B) before placing back the vacuum hose and check valve assembly. After that install the surge tank and its hose. You must replace the air inlet grille panel along with the master cylinder then put on the Clutch Master Cylinder if you need it before adding the cross vehicle brace and fastening the push rod retaining clip to the brake pedal.
