Before removing the master cylinder reservoir cap users should clean the external area near the cap which allows them to extract both the cap and diaphragm. Investigate the reservoir cap and diaphragm for damage including cuts or cracks or nicks or deformations. Replace faulty components immediately. Start by detaching the master cylinder reservoir while you push the primary Piston with a precise round-ended tool to separate the Piston retainer from the cylinder bore. Insert plugs into the inlet ports of the cylinder and the rear outlet port while introducing filtered and low pressure non-lubricated air through the front outlet port to extract the secondary Piston along with the primary and secondary seals and the return spring. Remove all components from the primary Piston assembly along with the Piston retainer and secondary Piston seals. The interior and exterior parts of the master cylinder require cleaning with denatured alcohol but users must avoid using abrasives on the Brake Master Cylinder bore. First install the master cylinder reservoir to the master cylinder before adding the reservoir cap and diaphragm and reinstalling the master cylinder to the vehicle.
