How to replace the thermostat (LP1, LY7) on 2005 Cadillac CTS?

To change the thermostat, drain out part of the cooling system without detaching the intake manifolds. Take out the upper intake manifold, unscrew the surge tank hose and the coolant inlet pipe. Install the thermostat and seal, reconnect coolant pipe, reconnect hose to surge tank and fill cooling system.
