- Q: How to Replace Coil Springs on 2005 Cadillac SRX?A: To change the coil spring, first lift and support the car, remove tire and wheel. Pull out the automatic control sensor link and the head lamp adjustment from the upper Control Arm. Lift up the lower Control Arm with a suitable jack and undo the shock absorber lower mounting bolt. Smashing the lower Control Arm and pulling off the support then supporting the rear frame with a suitable jack. Take out the frame bolts at the side of the coil spring replacing including frame to body side lug bolts and washers. Pull the frame down to pull out the coil spring without pushing beyond guide pins, then remove the coil spring. For installation, lift the frame and put the new coil spring in the vehicle. Mount the frame to body mounting bolts and washers and tighten the front bolts to 265 nm (195 ft. Lbs.) and rear bolts to 191 nm (140 ft. Lbs.). Remove the jack from the auto, then insert an appropriate jack under the lower Control Arm and lift up until it becomes synched with the knuckle. Insert the shock absorber lower retaining bolt and tighten to 150 nm (111 ft. Lbs.). Take out the jack for the second time then convert the head lamp adjusting link and automatic level control sensor link at the upper Control Arm. Lastly, before lowering the vehicle, install the tire and wheel.
