• Q: How to replace the radiator (LY7 - Standard Cooling) on 2005 Cadillac SRX?

  A: Draining coolant should be the first step before removing the electric cooling fan assembly for Radiator replacement in vehicles with the ly7 - standard cooling system. The procedure begins with raising the vehicle while supporting it before unbolting both lower and upper condenser mounting bolts to shift the condenser away from the Transmission Oil Cooler mounting bolts so these fasteres can be removed. The Radiator retainer pins must be detached from the side air baffle while driving the vehicle down then removing both Radiator support brackets and support bracket bolts. The door trim pad clip remover (J 38778) removes the Radiator/condenser upper support and the hose clamp pliers (J 38185) disconnects the surge tank inlet hose from the Radiator before repositioning it aside. The hose clamp pliers (J 38185) will detach the Radiator inlet and outlet hose clamps to disconnect the hoses before you disconnect the side air baffle upper retainer pins to remove the Radiator. Introduce the new Radiator then link the side air baffle upper retainer pins followed by connecting the Radiator outlet and inlet hoses using hose clamp pliers j 38185 for secure clamping. Secure the surge tank inlet hose to the Radiator through the use of hose clamp pliers (J 38185). Insert both the Radiator/condenser upper support and Radiator support brackets into position then apply 9 nm (80 lb in) of torque on Radiator support bracket bolts when putting in all fasteners properly. Reposition the vehicle while connecting lower retainers to the side air baffles and tightening Transmission Oil Cooler mounting bolts to 5 nm followed by upper and lower condenser mounting bolts which need 6.5 nm tightening. Afterward, lower the car and set the electric cooling fan assembly followed by filling the cooling system.
