    Q:
How to Service and Repair a Radiator on Cadillac SRX? Posted by Customer
    A:
The cooling system draining and filling tool (GE 47716 -Vac N Fill Coolant Refill Tool) should be used for coolant drainage before Radiator replacement. First drain the coolant with the cooling system draining and filling tool (GE 47716 -Vac N Fill Coolant Refill Tool) and then detach the electric cooling fan assembly followed by vehicle elevation and support. First detach both lower and upper condenser mounting bolts before shifting the condenser equipment to reach and detach Transmission Oil Cooler mounting bolts. Start by disconnecting side air baffle lower retainers from the Radiator then lower the car before removing both Radiator support bracket bolts as well as Radiator support brackets. The door trim pad clip remover (J 38778) assists in removing the Radiator/condenser upper support. The hose clamp pliers (J 38185) helps disconnect the surge tank inlet hose from the Radiator before setting it aside. Data shows that with the hose clamp pliers (J 38185), users should release tension from Radiator inlet and outlet hose clamps before disconnecting the hoses from the Radiator. The side air baffle upper retainer pins need to be disconnected from the Radiator before the removal of the Radiator. The installation procedure involves setting the new Radiator while you attach its side air baffle upper retainer pins. Use hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to attach the Radiator outlet hose and follow it up by applying the same tool to secure the Radiator inlet hose and surge tank inlet hose. Secure the Radiator/condenser upper support along with Radiator support brackets by tightening their bolts to 9 n.m (80 lb in). The next step is to raise the vehicle then connect the lower side air baffle retainer pins while tightening all Transmission Oil Cooler mounting bolts to 5 n.m (44 lb in). The vehicle must be lowered while you install the electric cooling fan assembly after tightening the upper and lower condenser mounting bolts to 6.5 n.m (58 lb in). The process of filling the cooling system requires utilization of the cooling system draining and filling (GE 47716 -Vac N Fill Coolant Refill Tool).

    Q:
How to replace the radiator on Cadillac SRX? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step to replace a Radiator requires draining the coolant. The electric cooling fan assembly should be uninstalled after removing it. The technician should lift and hold the vehicle before taking out lower and upper condenser mounting bolts to move the condenser for Transmission Oil Cooler mounting bolt removal. The disconnection of side air baffle lower retainer pins from the Radiator system requires lower positioning of the vehicle. The first step requires the removal of Radiator support bracket bolts together with Radiator support brackets. The j 38778 (Door Trim Pad Clip Remover) tool will efficiently remove the Radiator/condenser upper support. Disable the surge tank inlet hose from the Radiator through use of j 38185 (Hose Clamp Pliers). Then relocate the hose. The Radiator inlet hose clamp tension needs to be loosened with j 38185 and the inlet hose should be disconnected following the same procedure for the outlet hose. Remove the Radiator by first disconnecting the pins on top of the side air baffles from the Radiator. Position the Radiator in its installation spot and join the side air baffle upper retainer pins to complete the process. After applying j 38185 (Hose Clamp Pliers) attach the Radiator outlet hose and clamp it into place before doing the same for the Radiator inlet hose. Attach the surge tank inlet hose while using the clamp for securement. Install the Radiator/condenser upper support together with the Radiator support brackets while tightening the support bracket bolts to 9 nm (80 lb in). Raising the vehicle while connecting lower side air baffle retainer pins and installing Transmission Oil Cooler mounting bolts which need to be tightened to 5 nm (44 lb in). Affix the condenser mounting bolts upper and lower, tightening them to 6.5 nm which equals 58 lb in. Continue by lowering the car and reattach the electric cooling fan assembly. Finally, fill the cooling system.
