2010 Cadillac STS Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the radiator (LLT) on 2010 Cadillac STS?
A: Draining coolant should be the first step before Radiator (LLT) replacement. Users must start with electric cooling fan removal then move to upper and lower condenser mounting bolt removal. Lower the Radiator by disconnecting its lower retaining pins from the side air baffle after which you can access the transmission oil cooler (TOC) mounting bolts to uninstall them. You must lower the vehicle while using j 38185 - hose clamp pliers to loosen hose clamp tension so you can remove the Radiator outlet hose , Radiator inlet hose , surge tank inlet hose and auxiliary water pump outlet hose . First detach the Radiator support bracket bolts and the Radiator support brackets while disconnecting the upper air baffle retaining pins that secure the Radiator before you remove it. Place the new Radiator and then connect the upper air baffle retaining pins before you install the Radiator support brackets which needs to be bolted with 9 nm (80 lb in) force. You can install the Radiator by use of j 38185 - hose clamp pliers to connect the auxiliary water pump outlet hose along with surge tank inlet hose and Radiator inlet hose and Radiator outlet hose. Support the vehicle off the ground before installing the toc mounting bolts according to the specified torque of 5 nm (44 lb in). The Radiator should receive both lower retaining pins from the side air baffle before installation of the lower and upper condenser mounting bolts with torque specifications set to 5.4 nm (48 lb in) then proceed with electric cooling fan installation. The cooling system requires full fluid before concluding the process.
