2005 Cadillac STS Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the TPMS Sensor on 2005 Cadillac STS?
A: Begin by raising the vehicle with an appropriate support system then remove the tire/wheel assembly. Begin placing the sensor's cap and valve on a clean surface before tire removal. Use aluminum caps and nickel-plated valves to stop corrosion occurrences. During bead separation from the wheel mount the bead breaking fixture at a ninety-degree angle to the valve stem while inserting the tire iron or pry bar anterior to the sensor body to pry the tire bead onto mounting/dismounting head. The tire machine should rotate the tire/wheel assembly clockwise to move the tire bead towards the wheel rim's outer edge until both bead transfers are complete. Then remove the tire from the wheel. Identify any sealant in the tire before removing the liquid from the tire's interior and wheel walls and extracting the pressure sensor nut and corresponding sensor. For sensor installation you must first clean the grommet area from dirt before inserting the sensor with its air passage into the wheel hole pointing away from the wheel's inside surface, tighten the sensor nut to 7 Nm (62 inch lbs.) while positioning the sensor body parallel to the inside wheel surface. Installation of the tire begins by positioning the head unit 180 degrees from the valve stem while the bead transition point sits 45 degrees counterclockwise to the stem. Move the tire/wheel assembly right to shift the inner bead into the wheel rim and repeat the process for the outer bead before wheel installation. The service replacement tire pressure sensor arrives in OFF mode because this protects its unique identification code from entering the antenna module's memory. The sensor requires wheel assembly rotation above 32 km/h (20 mph) for at least 10 seconds to operate effectively. This process closes the sensor's internal roll switch from OFF mode. The process ends by mounting the tire/wheel assembly to the vehicle then lowering it and teaching the tire pressure sensors.
