• Q: How to replace the starter motor on 2005 Cadillac XLR?

  A: Begin replacement of the Starter motor by disconnecting the negative Battery Cable followed by removing the Intake Manifold. First disconnect the bat cable from the Starter motor and the wire from the "s" terminal of the motor Starter. First remove the two bolts securing the Starter motor to its mounting position before extracting the Starter motor itself. Securely attach the Starter motor by mounting it with bolts while tightening them to 30 n.m (22 lb ft). Hook up the Starter motor "s" terminal wire and apply a 4 n.m torque (35 lb in) to the s terminal solenoid nut. Secure the Starter motor bat terminal wire while tightening the Battery Cable to Starter terminal nut to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Install the Intake Manifold followed by reconnecting the negative Battery Cable.
