• Q: How to replace the Knock Sensor (KS) 1 on 2005 Cadillac XLR?

  A: The replacement process starts by taking out the Intake Manifold before disconnecting the electrical connector from the Knock Sensor (KS). After the bolt center removal you must free the ks from its position within the engine block. Before ks installation perform a rigorous cleaning process of both the ks surfaces and the engine block until the complete ks contact area aligns with the engine block's surface. The installation process requires positioning both the bolt and ks to the engine block and avoiding use of any washers including spring washers or toothed washers and torquing the bolt to 20 n.m (15 lb ft). Multiple retaining clips secure the wiring harness into its proper place. Reconnect the electrical connector to the ks while reinstalling the Intake Manifold.
