How to replace the steering wheel on 2005 Cadillac XLR?

A proper Steering Wheel replacement begins by cutting the electrical connections for the inflator module and horn connector. Begin by installing the steering column lock pin (J 42640) to the steering column then remove the Steering Wheel set nut which needs disposal. Using the Steering Wheel puller (J 1859-A) and Steering Wheel puller legs (J 36541-A) on the Steering Wheel before tightening the puller center screw against the steering column shaft to make the wheel slide off. Once this process completes remove the puller tools from the Steering Wheel. To install the Steering Wheel simply set it on the steering column while checking that alignment marks remain visible. Secure a new Steering Wheel set nut until it achieves 41 nm torque (30 ft. Lbs). Install the steering column lock pin (J 42640), reattach the horn electrical connector then reinstall the Steering Wheel inflator module during the final steps.
