How to replace the steering wheel on 2004 Cadillac XLR?

Before replacing the Steering Wheel you need to remove both the Steering Wheel inflator module and the horn electrical connector. Begin by placing the steering column lock pin (J 42640) onto the steeming column before you remove the Steering Wheel set nut that you can dispose. The Steering Wheel puller legs (J 36541-A) and Steering Wheel puller (J 1859-A) should be attached to the Steering Wheel. Tighten the puller center screw against the steering column shaft so the Steering Wheel can slide off. Take the puller tools off the Steering Wheel once installation has been completed. When installing the Steering Wheel place it onto the steering column and center the markings after which install a new Steering Wheel set nut while tightening it to 41 nm (30 ft. Lbs.). Reinstall the Steering Wheel inflator module with the horn electrical connector reconnected after removing the steering column lock pin (J 42640).
