2005 Chevrolet Astro Brake Master Cylinder Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the brake master cylinder on 2005 Chevrolet Astro?
A: Start by engaging the parking brake then blocking all wheels before you change the Brake Master Cylinder. Sever the brake system lines from the master cylinder and protect brake fluid loss with rubber caps or plugs. Turn off the brake lines at the master cylinder and remove its nuts and bolts while you detach the combination valve bracket. Withdraw the master cylinder from the vehicle. Get all brake fluid out of the master cylinder. Before reinstalling the system you need to bench bleed the master cylinder and place it back inside the vehicle together with the combination valve bracket. Thread the master cylinder bolts into place and fasten them with 36 Nm torque setting. After that attach the brake pipes to the master cylinder and tighten the fittings to 30 Nm. Complete the brake hydraulic process by emptying fluid from the system.
