  • Q: How to replace the thermostat in a 4.3L engine on 2005 Chevrolet Blazer?
A: In order to replace the Thermostat on a 4.3l engine, commence with draining the cooling system in part. Then, take off the air cleaner outlet duct, followed with throttle body bracket nuts to move the bracket. Next remove the water outlet housing mounting bolts and withdraw the water outlet housing from lower Intake Manifold, laying it down. Take out the gasket or o ring and the Thermostat and ensure that all the nylon sides of the water outlet housing and also lower Intake Manifold are cleaned properly. For installation, clean all parts and sealing surfaces to avoid leakages before installing the new Thermostat and a new gasket or o-ring. Reattach the water outlet housing back onto the lower Intake Manifold being sure to install the water outlet housing mounting bolts and secure to 19 nm (14 ft. Lbs.). Next, replace the throttle body bracket and its nuts with a torque of 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). Finally, fill the cooling system and check for coolant leaks.
