Chevrolet Blazer Thermostat Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the thermostat in a 4.3L engine on Chevrolet Blazer?
    A:
The replacement process for the 4.3l engine Thermostat begins when you drain part of the cooling system. Start by removing the outlet duct from the air cleaner before unscrewing all throttle body bracket nuts to relocate the bracket. The procedure starts by discarding the lower Intake Manifold water outlet housing mounting bolts before separating this housing from the manifold to set it safely aside. First clean both sealing surfaces of the water outlet housing and lower Intake Manifold before you put the new gasket or o-ring and Thermostat into place. All installation parts require complete cleaning to avoid leakage between sealing surfaces. Attach the Thermostat with either a new gasket or o-ring before connecting the water outlet housing to the lower Intake Manifold using the directions in fastener notice in service precautions. Fasten water outlet housing mounting bolts to 19 nm (14 ft. Lbs.) before reattaching the throttle body bracket which requires bracket nuts to be tightened to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). Before you finish you must fill the cooling system while inspecting it for leakages.
