2005 Chevrolet Corvette Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the positive battery cable on 2005 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: You must begin by taking out the battery tray before opening the stud cover which is found on the fuse/relay center. Begin by disconnecting the positive Battery Cable nut along with lead from the fuse/relay center stud then proceed to the heat shield retainer at the upper plenum and the battery heat shield retainer includes the battery heat shield. Extract these items from the right rear spark plug wire followed by the Battery Cable clips and then the battery cables from the engine wiring harness insulator. First raise and support the vehicle before unbolting (3, 4) the terminals and terminal nut from the Starter Solenoid. Finally lower the vehicle when taking out the positive Battery Cable. Beginning installation starts with inserting the positive Battery Cable before the vehicle is raised. The technician needs to place engine harness leads (3, 4) on the solenoid before secure the positive cable terminal. Lastly, install the positive Battery Cable terminals (3, 4) to the Starter Solenoid while tightening the nut to 8 n.m (71 lb in). The installation continues with adding battery cables to engine wiring harness insulator and then applying Battery Cable clips and right rear spark plug wire. The battery heat shield installation requires placing two fingers from the heat shield bracket opposite each other while inserting the shield into the insulator notch. The heat shield retainer should be installed both at the wheelhouse panel and at the upper plenum. Install the positive Battery Cable lead to the fuse/relay center stud along with its nut while tightening both components to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Complete the battery tray procedure by putting on the stud cover to the fuse/relay center.
