- Q: How to replace the starter motor on 2005 Chevrolet Corvette?A: To replace the Starter motor, there is a need to disconnect the battery (-) cable and remove the Catalytic Converter. Next, you remove the positive Battery Cable nut, followed then by the positive Battery Cable terminal and the engine harness leads to the solenoid. Take off the s terminal nut, then disconnect the purple wire lead and washer from the solenoid. Supports the Starter motor and removes bolts in the Starter motor prior to removing the Starter motor. For installation, align Starter motor with the block and install the Starter motor bolts, torque to 50 n.m (37 lb ft). Install the washer and purple lead wire on the terminal s of the Starter motor and make sure that the purple wire is in a 10-o'clock position. After that, install the s terminal nut and tighten to 4 n.m (35 lb in) with the assurance on the gray and rust harness leads orientations to the 6 o'clock and 7:00 positions. Attach the rusty and gray harness leads to the solenoid, then the other nut that is of the positive Battery Cable terminal and the other nut which should be tightened further to 8 n.m (71 lb in). Finally, reinsert the Catalytic Converter and attach the negative battery cabel again.
