- Q: How to replace the starter motor on 2006 Chevrolet Corvette?A: The Starter motor replacement process begins by disconnecting the negative Battery Cable followed by the removal of the Catalytic Converter. Begin by removing the positive Battery Cable nut then detach the positive Battery Cable terminal followed by removing the engine harness leads from the solenoid. Next remove the s terminal nut before disconnecting the purple wire lead and its washer from the solenoid. First support the Starter motor then remove all bolts from the motor before extracting the Starter. During installation position the Starter motor against the block before installing Starter motor bolts that must be tightened to 50 n.m (37 lb ft). Set the purple lead wire of the Starter motor at the 10 o'clock position while installing the s terminal washer. Perform s terminal nut installation while achieving 4 n.m torque (35 lb in) and align both harness leads at the 6 o'clock and 7 o'clock orientation points. Start by connecting the gray and rust harness leads to the solenoid followed by the positive Battery Cable terminal and the positive Battery Cable nut. Torque the nut to 8 n.m (71 lb in). Reinstall the Catalytic Converter while finalizing installation of the negative Battery Cable.
