How to Replace the Weather Strip on Coupe and Convertible on 2005 Chevrolet Corvette?

Replace Coupe and Convertible weather strips starting with driver and passenger door openings as well as stripping off the roof lift off panel (Coupe) or lowering the convertible top. You will first need to remove the push-in retainers which anchor the weather strip to the lower corners before taking out the screws from both the upper LH/RH corner. The rear edge of the weather strip needs to be peeled forward before removing the windshield upper retainers and their screws to completely remove the weather strip with its upper retainer. After cleaning the surface from any remnants of old sealant material technicians should place GM P/N 12345097 or equivalent sealant on the windshield header that extends 75 mm (3 inches) beyond the latches to the header corner while also placing sealant globules along the side retainers. First place the weather strip onto the windshield frame after that secure the windshield weather strip upper retainer center screw using 3.4 N.m (30 lb in). Position the weather strip on the upper retainer center before removing it from the edge of the retainer starting at the outside to access more screw holes. The installer should insert and tighten the LH outer and middle screws and RH outer and middle screws to 3.4 N.m (30 lb in). To install the weather strip into the upper retainer begin at the center and move outward while the protective foam tape film must be removed from new weather strips or double-sided tape applied to used ones. You should start inserting the weather strip through both side retainers from the top section then secure the LH and RH top corner weather strip screws to 3.4 N.m (30 lb in). To complete the installation process install the lower LH and RH corner push-in retainers and either set the roof panel (coupe) or conduct the top lifting procedure (convertible).
