2005 Chevrolet Equinox Brake Disc Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Replace the Brake Disc on 2005 Chevrolet Equinox?
A: Before starting work lift and stabilize the vehicle under its own weight. Install the c-clamp (J 41013) over the brake caliper body and position its ends towards the bracket area while compressing the brake caliper piston to release the wheel assembly. Shut the c-clamp down until you see the caliper piston depress enough to let the caliper slip off the Brake Disc. Take out the c-clamp. Secure the brake caliper with wire mechanics support when you detaching it from its mount. Keep the hydraulic brake hose free of tension to avoid damaging it. Following the matchmarks between disc and wheel studs, take the brake caliper assembly off the Steering Knuckle for easy installation of the new parts later. Wipe away rust or dirt from the hub/axle flange and disc contact points using the wheel hub resurfacing kit (J 42450-A) and the disc resurfacing kit (J 41013). Examine the disc and hub mating faces for any foreign objects before you connect the Brake Disc properly to the hub/axle flange based on the position marks. Use a proper gauge to test the Brake Disc side-to-side movement; make further needed adjustments to meet the required specifications. Put the support aside and add the brake caliper and bracket back together on the Steering Knuckle before putting on the tire and wheel unit. Put the car on its ground surface and stress the Brake Pad and disc if needed.
