2005 Chevrolet Equinox Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the coolant reservoir on 2005 Chevrolet Equinox?
A: Engine coolant needs to drain before starting Coolant Reservoir replacement. First loosen and remove the clamp from the Heater Core before extracting the heater outlet hose. The heater outlet hose must be removed by taking out the clamp at both the engine and engine mounting. Moving the heater inlet hose loose end outboard will help during Coolant Reservoir removal procedures. Connectors for the Coolant Reservoir inlet hose start by loosening the clamp then removing the hose from the tank. Access the heater outlet hose by extracting bolted-down Coolant Reservoir pieces and lifting the Coolant Reservoir before removing its clamp and hose completely. The Coolant Reservoir must be completely removed from the vehicle before everything is finished. Start installation by connecting the heater outlet hose to the Coolant Reservoir before placing the Coolant Reservoir into its original location in the vehicle. Install Coolant Reservoir bolts at 8 nm torque (71 inch lbs.) before you reattach the Coolant Reservoir inlet hose with its clamp. Secure the heater outlet hose to the engine using its clamp before connecting it to the Heater Core while securing with a clamp. To finish the process add coolant into the engine system.
