2005 Chevrolet Equinox Fuel Rail Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the fuel rail assembly on 2005 Chevrolet Equinox?
A: The fuel system pressure needs to be reduced before performing Fuel Rail assembly replacement. First disconnect the engine fuel feed pipe at the Fuel Rail and the main Fuel Injector harness electrical connector after removing the upper Intake Manifold. The next step requires disconnecting the Coolant Temperature Sensor along with the Camshaft Position Sensor electrical connectors. At this point, the service technician should disconnect the electrical connectors from the fuel injectors. Remove the Fuel Rail retaining bolts then extract the Fuel Rail assembly from its position. The injector o-ring seal must be removed from the spray tip end of each injector whenever needed. Medical technicians must use gm p/n 12345616 (Canadian P/N 993182) liquid as a lubricant to install the Fuel Injector o-rings before placing each Fuel Injector nozzle into the lower Intake Manifold injector bore. Use the Fuel Rail to press until the fuel injectors reach full seat position before installing the Fuel Rail attaching bolts with a torque of 10 n.m (89 lb in). Connect the Fuel Rail electrical harness before lubricating the Fuel Injector electrical connectors with gm p/n 12377900 (Canadian P/N 10953529) and placing the connectors into position. You should start by connecting the Coolant Temperature Sensor and Camshaft Position Sensor electrical connectors then proceed with the main Fuel Injector electrical harness connector and the fuel feed pipe attaching point at the Fuel Rail. After installing the upper Intake Manifold reattach the negative Battery Cable followed by a leak test procedure of igniting power for 2 seconds followed by 10 seconds of powerless and another 2 seconds of ignition for leak inspection.
