2005 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the Turn Signal Switch on 2005 Chevrolet Monte Carlo?
A: Disable the Restraints system before you start replacing the turn signal switch by taking off upper and lower trim pieces. Afterward reinstall the abrasion sleeve and remember how the connectors are positioned for reassembly. Unplug the wire harness assembly from its mounting strap then take out the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly connector from the SIR system coil plug. Remove the assembly turn signal and multifunction switch unit from steering column tilt head assembly by sliding out the two connectors from bulkhead connector and taking away its two pan head tapping screws. Position the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly onto the steering column tilt head assembly with its electrical contact sitting on the turn signal cancel cam assembly. Connect the assembly using two pan head tapping screws and insert the top screw by 3 Nm (27 inch-lbs) torque and the side screw by 7 Nm (62 inch-lbs). Pass the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly connectors smoothly through bulkhead connector and fasten them to SIR coil connector. Place the abrasion sleeve back on the steering column wire harness bundle following the right placement of both the ignition lock cylinder case wires and connector. Insert the wire harness assembly into the wire harness strap then replace the upper and lower trim covers along with activating the Restraints system.
