2005 Chevrolet SSR Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the wheel seal on 2005 Chevrolet SSR?
A: You need to first support the vehicle at a raised position then uninstall the tire and wheel before removing the brake rotor. First detach the ABS Sensor from the Wheel Hub and remove the ABS Sensor mounting bolt. Unscrew and remove the Wheel Hub mounting bolts to detach the assembly from Steering Knuckle and take off the splash shield from the Steering Knuckle. Place the splash shield against the Steering Knuckle so its threaded holes face each other for proper installation. Put the Wheel Hub and bearing onto the Steering Knuckle with threads lined up before you fasten the mounting bolts to torque them at 105 nm (77 ft. Lbs.). Secure the ABS Sensor onto its mount with a bolt that must be tightened to 18 nm (13 foot lbs). Attach the brake rotor and components back in their original position after lowering the vehicle.
