2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the front air bag sensor on 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer?
A: Disabling the sir system should be the initial step in front end sensor inflatable restraint replacement procedures. A strike or jarring motion on the sensor can lead to deployment or injuries so secure the sensor before powering up the system. Disassemble the start by taking off the grille while unclipping the headlamp wire harness from its holder. The necessary sensor assembly access requires raising and supporting the headlamp wire harness while loosening the bolts which secure the sensor to the frame for sensor removal. First position the sensor assembly directly above the front Bumper before you remove the retaining bolts which also require removal of the protective cover from the sensor. Before extracting the sensor from the vehicle disconnect the sensor electrical connector after you detach the connector-position assurance (CPA) from the sensor electrical connector. First wash the mounting surface and place the sensor assembly flat above the front Bumper before connecting its electrical connectors. Secure both retaining bolts and protective cover after coupling the connector-position assurance (CPA) to the sensor electrical connector. Before installing position the sensor assembly in a horizontal alignment with the frame while keeping the sensor arrow pointed in the vehicle's forward direction. Secure the sensor assembly to the frame using two bolts which need to be tightened to 8 n.m (71 lb in). Reposition the headlamp wire harness into its retaining clip before securing it in place while you reinstall the grille then activate the sir system.
