2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the intake manifold on 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer?
A: A successful Intake Manifold replacement process requires two steps: venting the fuel pressure followed by removing the Throttle Body. Begin by removing the pcm retaining bolts and the nuts from the pcm before removing its mounting studs to place the pcm out of your work area. Erase the electrical connection of the ect sensor before cutting the Fuel Rail's fuel feed and fuel return tubes and the integral clip from its wire harness bracket. Detach the engine wire harness bracket bolt before placing the bracket with wires intact somewhere out of the work area. The technicians should first disconnect three components: the MAP Sensor electrical connector, the crankcase ventilation hose, and the vacuum brake booster hose at the Intake Manifold. The procedure begins by removing the generator but only loosening the Intake Manifold bolts while keeping the captured bolts in position. Position the new Intake Manifold Gasket before securing the manifold to its place through bolts which must be tightened to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). Reinstall the generator and vacuum brake booster hose after applying gm p/n 12345884 (or Canadian equivalent P/N 5728223) lubricant inside the crankcase ventilation hose. Check that the MAP Sensor electrical connector works correctly while you mount the engine electrical harness bracket onto the Intake Manifold along with its bracket bolt requiring 10 nm (89 inch lbs.) torque. After attaching the integral clip to the wire harness bracket, attach fuel feed and fuel return pipes to the Fuel Rail while connecting the ect sensor electrical connector. Begin by mounting the pcm studs through the Intake Manifold before securing the pcm to these studs with retaining bolts that require 8 nm of torque (71 inch lbs.). Then double-check that the retaining nuts achieve the same torque setting. To finish up, reinstall the Throttle Body before connecting the negative Battery Cable and conducting a leak inspection using the ignition test protocol of two-second on time followed by ten-second off time followed by another two-second on time with engine still off.
