2005 Chevrolet Uplander Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Coolant Temperature Sensor on 2005 Chevrolet Uplander?
A: Engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor replacement starts with draining the engine coolant lower than the sensor position. Start by breaking loose the air intake duct and separating the ect sensor's harness connector before extracting the ect sensor from its housing. When installing the new sensor use gm p/n 12345382 (Canadian P/N 10953489 and equivalent thread sealant on the sensor threads. The engine head's sensor mounting hole requires tapping to eliminate thread sealant residue before cleaning off the old sensor and adding RTV sealant to threads when the same sensor will be reused. Screw the ECT sensor into position with 23 N.m (17 lb ft) of torque. Connect the ect sensor harness connector properly while pulling it back to verify a positive mechanical connection. To finish the repair process put engine coolant at the correct level then put back the air intake duct.
