2005 Chevrolet Venture A/C Expansion Valve Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Expansion Valve in the air conditioning system on 2005 Chevrolet Venture?
A: The first step to replace the A/C Expansion Valve (TXV) inside the air conditioning system is to collect refrigerant from the a/c system. Uninstall the left wiper arm linkage nuts while shifting the left wiper arm linkage in position for workspace. Clear the heater hoses for space before you disconnect the vacuum hose from the Brake Booster and reposition it. Disconnect both the Evaporator outlet and inlet tubes from the A/C Expansion Valve by removing its outlet tube to A/C Expansion Valve nut. The Evaporator outlet tube requires detachment from its line route before users extract and discard its sealing washers. You must immediately seal both Evaporator inlet and outlet tubes with caps or tape to avoid polluting the refrigerant system. Pull out the A/C Expansion Valve from the Evaporator core by removing its bolts then dispose the sealing washers. The installation procedure requires new sealing washers to be placed on the Evaporator core before fitting the A/C Expansion Valve unit to the core and using proper fasteners at their appropriate locations. The installation of A/C Expansion Valve to Evaporator bolts must reach a torque of 3.2 nm (28 lb in). Uncover the Evaporator tubes using tape or caps before attaching fresh sealing washers to the outlets and inlets. Install the Evaporator outlet tube onto the A/C Expansion Valve before attaching the tubes to the A/C Expansion Valve followed by tightening the outlet tube nut to 16 nm (12 lb ft). Put back the vacuum hose to the Brake Booster before putting the heater hoses back into position and putting the left wiper arm linkage along with its corresponding nuts but tighten them to 5 nm (44 lb in). The a/c system requires evacuation followed by recharging and the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) must complete a fitting leak check on the component.
