• Q: How to replace the Heater Core on 2005 Chevrolet Venture?

  A: The first step to replace the Heater Core includes draining the cooling system while removing left wiper arm linkage nuts before positioning the linkage for access. You must first disconnect the vacuum hose from the Brake Booster before repositioning it and proceeding to disconnect both the air cleaner cover and intake tube. Cable housings should remain unbent so you need to disconnect both cruise control and throttle cables before removing them from their tbi mounting bracket. First disconnect both heater hose clamps at the Heater Core with hose clamp pliers (J 38185) before removing the hoses. The transmission fluid filler tube needs removal as well. You must cap off Heater Core inlet then outlet before removing its cover and retaining clamp screw to take out the Heater Core from the hvac module. Place the Heater Core inside the hvac module while using proper fasteners in their designated positions and tighten the Heater Core pipe retaining clamp screw to 1.6 nm (14 lb in). Propagate the Heater Core cover across the heater hoses after using hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to attach the hoses. Put back the transmission fluid filler tube alongside the air cleaner cover and intake hose before connecting both throttle and cruise control cables to the tbi mounting bracket and vacuum hose to the Brake Booster. Reinstall the left wiper arm linkage before tightening its nuts to 5 nm while filling the coolant.
