• Q: How to replace the Heater Core on 2004 Chevrolet Venture?

  A: Starting the Heater Core replacement requires draining of the cooling system fluid. Begin by removing both wiper arm linkage nuts from the left side before repositioning the linkage for further access. First detach the vacuum hose from around the Brake Booster after repositioning it. Start by removing the air cleaner cover and intake tube followed by unhinging the throttle and cruise control cables from the tbi mounting bracket before you bend any cable housing. Detach the transmission fluid filler tube after which you can disconnect both heater hose clamps at the Heater Core using hose clamp pliers (J 38185). To prevent Heater Core fluid leakage inside the car remove both heater hoses from the core while using caps to seal the pipelines. First unfasten the Heater Core cover followed by the Heater Core pipe retaining clamp screw before extracting the Heater Core from the hvac module. The new Heater Core needs to be inserted into the hvac module first before attaching it through the Heater Core pipe retaining clamp screw while tightening the screw to 1.6 n.m (14 lb in). After installing the Heater Core cover you should position heater hoses to the Heater Core while using hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to tighten the heater hose clamps properly. Place back the transmission fluid filler tube together with the air cleaner cover and intake hose into position. The tbi mounting bracket must receive throttle and cruise control cables after which the vacuum hose should be reattached to the Brake Booster. As the last step complete the installation of the left wiper arm linkage by fastening its nuts to 5 n.m (44 lb in) torque before filling coolant into the system.
