A: Before working on the Wheel Cylinder you must lift the vehicle and put it on stands then you need to remove the tire and wheel. Remove all dirt and debris from both the Wheel Cylinder brake pipe fitting and bleeder valve before moving on to take off the Brake Drum and brake pipe nut. Install a safety cover on the brake pipe at its end to stop brake fluid from spilling followed by taking out the Wheel Cylinder bolts. Open and install the new Wheel Cylinder by spreading brake shoes apart with the j 38400 Brake Shoe spanner and spring remover (J 38400). Deal with all remaining sealant on both parts before reinstalling the Wheel Cylinder if you reuse the plate. The Wheel Cylinder needs to receive loctite gm p/n 12345382 (or an identical product) on its backing plate contact face before reinstalling it using the j 38400 tool to separate the brake shoes. Tighten the Wheel Cylinder bolts to 12 nm (110 inch lbs.) using a tool. Install the brake pipe into the Wheel Cylinder and torque its nut to 17 nm (12 ft. Lbs.) after removing the cap. Set brake shoes to their proper position then install the Brake Drum. Drain and refill the hydraulic brake system afterward we attach the wheel and tire assembly. Lastly place the vehicle back to ground level.
