2005 Chevrolet Venture Brake Drum Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the brake drum on 2005 Chevrolet Venture?
A: Begin replacing the Brake Drum by lifting and holding the vehicle while freeing the parking brake. Mark how the drum positions to the hub before you detach the tire and wheel. Take off the Brake Drum when possible after taking out the retaining clip. When the drum does not slide out freely you should first relax the Parking Brake Cable. Next remove the access hole plug from the backing plate and use a flat blade to unlock the self-adjuster before loosening the adjuster screw through the opening. Reinsert the protective access hole plug before applying small bits of penetrating oil around the Brake Drum center hole to take off the drum. To reinstall the Brake Drum start by positioning its identifiers with the hub marks. Replace the Brake Drum then check the brake shoe alignment and finally put the wheel and tire back on before lowering the car.
