    A: The replacement of right Exhaust Manifold for 4.8l, 5.3l and 6.0l engines begins with vehicle elevation followed by Exhaust Manifold pipe nut removal. Lastly, lower the vehicle before proceeding with the replacement. Inspections must start with Spark Plug removal and then continue by removing Exhaust Manifold bolts assisted by replacement of manifold and old gasket while discarding it. You should detach the heat shield bolts as well as the shield from the Exhaust Manifold when required. The Exhaust Manifold needs inspection before mounting the heat shield to the manifold while torquing bolts to 9 nm (80 inch lbs.). A 0.2 inch wide (5 mm) threadlock gm p/n 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488) strip must be applied to the Exhaust Manifold bolt threads except for the first three threads. The threads inside the cylinder head Exhaust Manifold bolt holes must be clean from debris as well as threadlocking material before applying threadlock. Begin this installation step by fastening the center Exhaust Manifold bolts to 15 nm (11 ft. Lbs.) then proceed with alternating the bolt tightenings from center to outside ends before applying a final torque of 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.) using the same side-to-side pattern. Use a flat punch to bend the exposed Exhaust Manifold gasket front section at the right cylinder head before installing spark plugs. After another vehicle lift you should start installing and tightening the Exhaust Manifold pipe nuts until they reach 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.) and then lower the vehicle to completion.
