    Q:
How to replace the left exhaust manifold on Chevrolet Avalanche 1500? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step to replace the left Exhaust Manifold requires removing ignition coils and spark plugs before elevating the vehicle with support. Start by removing Exhaust Manifold pipe nuts then lower the automobile. After removing Exhaust Manifold bolts and manifold along with the gasket the old gasket should be discarded. In some cases the Exhaust Manifold heat shield will need to be unbolted along with its shield before removal. An inspection and cleaning process should be performed on the Exhaust Manifold unless the replacement plan includes new manifold installation. When performing an installation the heat shield and bolts need to be attached to the Exhaust Manifold before tightening them to 9 nm (80 inch lbs.). To prepare the bolt holes for installation, inspect and clean the threads on Exhaust Manifold bolt holes before omitting threadlock material from the initial three bolt threads. The thread ends of Exhaust Manifold bolts require a 5 mm (0.2 inch) wide application of threadlock gm p/n 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488) or its equivalent product. Start by tightening the center bolts followed by progressive side-to-side movement of bolt tightness toward the outside bolts until reaching 15 nm (11 ft. Lbs.) and complete this process once again with a final tightening to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). Establish a flat surface on the Exhaust Manifold gasket at the left cylinder head rear section by bending it with a flat punch. Position the vehicle for the second time before adding and torquing the Exhaust Manifold pipe nuts to 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs. Torque). You should install spark plugs and ignition coils after lowering the vehicle.

    Q:
How to replace the left exhaust manifold on Chevrolet Suburban 2500? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step for replacement of the left Exhaust Manifold involves removal of the wheelhouse panel. A one-half turn clockwise twist on the Spark Plug boot will let you release it and you should grip only the boot portion to protect the wire. To begin pull off the Spark Plug Wires from both the spark plugs and ignition coils. Then continue by removing the spark plugs. First raise and support the vehicle before removing the bolts and nuts from the Exhaust Manifold heat shield to separate the left Exhaust Manifold heat shield from its position. The work sequence begins by lowering the vehicle before experts remove Exhaust Manifold bolts and nuts to finally extract the Exhaust Manifold from position. Dispose of the old Exhaust Manifold Gasket along with checking the manifold for reuse only if the condition allows. Use a new gasket to mount the Exhaust Manifold before tightening the Exhaust Manifold bolt to 35 nm (26 ft. Lbs.) and the nuts to 16 nm (12 ft. Lbs.). After another vehicle lift you can install the Exhaust Manifold heat shield using proper bolt and nut arrangement which requires tightening to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). Use the vehicle hoist to lower it down before inserting spark plugs and taking care to completely install the Spark Plug wire by pushing on its exposed boot section rather than using metal heat shields. Reinstall the wheelhouse panel while connecting the Spark Plug Wires to both spark plugs and ignition coils.
