Before starting to replace the exhaust heat shield on the frame, safely position the vehicle using support stands. The first step involves removing the exhaust system according to necessity then removing its retaining bolts followed by heat shield removal. Installation of the heat shield should begin by closely following Fastener Notice in Service Precautions. Secure the heat shield in position and then install its bolts before tightening the heat shield retainer bolt up to 12 Nm (106 inch lbs.). When you finish with the exhaust system reinstall everything as required before you can remove the safety stands for vehicle lowering.

Begin by raising the vehicle before starting replacement of the exhaust heat shield. A 1/4 inch (6 mm) drill bit allows users to take out rivets from heat shields before they remove the exhaust tailpipe heat shield then the muffler heat shield and the front exhaust pipe heat shield in that order. Start installation by mounting the front exhaust pipe heat shield to the vehicle while securing it with rivets through the use of the J 34940 Rivet Gun (J 34940). Use the J 34940 Rivet Gun (J 34940) to fasten both the muffler heat shield and exhaust tailpipe heat shield with proper installation of rivets. Prop the vehicle after all heat shields receive complete installation and securement.

Begin by using a 1/4 inch (6 mm) drill bit to rivet the shaft from the heat shields as required before uninstalling the exhaust tailpipe heat shield and the muffler heat shield and finally the front exhaust pipe heat shield. Start your installation work by placing the front exhaust pipe heat shield onto the vehicle while you fasten it with rivets through usage of the J 34940 Rivet Gun (J 34940). Follow this installation logic with the muffler heat shield after you complete the exhaust tailpipe heat shield installation which is fastened using J 34940 Rivet Gun (J 34940). Lower the vehicle after safeguarding and bolts are properly installed to all heat shields.

Subsequently, put the muffler heat shield into place and fasten it with rivets using tool J34940. Finish by putting on the exhaust tailpipe heat shield and fastening it in place with the rivet gun J34940, then lower the vehicle.

Remove the safety stands and lower the vehicle.

Reinstall the exhaust system as necessary, remove the safety stands, and lower the vehicle.

Install the exhaust tailpipe heat shield and secure it with rivets using the J 34940 Rivet Gun, then lower the vehicle.

Position the heat shield and ensure to follow the Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Raise and suitably support the vehicle with safety stands.

Use a 1/4 inch (6 mm) drill bit to remove the rivets from the heat shields.

If needed, remove the exhaust system.

Remove the heat shield itself.
