2006 Buick LaCrosse Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Expansion Valve in a system on 2006 Buick LaCrosse?
A: A correct replacement of thermal expansion valve (TXV) begins with refrigerant recovery from the a/c system. You must begin by disassembling the connection of txv nut to the Evaporator tube then unplug both the inlet and outlet tubes that service the txv. Immediately seal the Evaporator tubes with caps after you remove their sealing washers because contaminating the refrigerant system should be prevented. First eliminate the txv to Evaporator bolts before removing the txv from the Evaporator core and discarding new sealing washers. New sealing washers should be installed onto the Evaporator core before mounting the txv to its position along with txv to Evaporator bolts secured at 7 n.m (62 lb in). Install new sealing washers on both Evaporator tubes and connect them from the txv after removing inlet and outlet tube coverings. Use the Evaporator tube nut to complete the installation before torquing it to 17 n.m (12.5 lb ft). The a/c system evacuation and recharging process must be completed followed by fittings leak detection using the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A).
